The 6,000 inhabitants of the Santa Marta community in Rio de Janeiro had problems with the high price and low reliability of the electric power system. Fortunately, from the Make the Future project, they discovered the cleanest and most abundant source of energy: the sun.
With the support of Shell, a startup from Rio de Janeiro named Insolar decided to transform the community of Santa Marta and in partnership with Sunew created a furniture called Smart Station. This furniture aims to bring energy to poor communities, enabling the lighting of the place and charging of cell phones without the need of connection to the network and without generating pollutants. Because of these characteristics, any community could also receive such furniture, without major complications of installation and use.
The Make The Future project seeks to highlight the need for greater global collaboration for cleaner power generation by introducing innovations from six energy startups.VOLTAR PARA CASES
