Belo Horizonte (23.01.2019) – Sunew, the worldwide leader in Organic Photovoltaic Film (OPV) technology, will deliver the world’s largest next generation of solar energy installation. OPV is a rapidly solar energy technology that integrates energy with innovative architecture design and sustainability. The company will apply the product to the Natura Learning Center building, located in São Paulo, Brazil. The building is a reference of sustainable industrial architecture with the main goal of demonstrating the renowned innovative and eco-friendly essence of Natura, a multinational company in the cosmetics field operating in more than 70 countries.
SUNEW’s photovoltaic films, named SUNEW OPV SLIM, will be placed in an area of 2,020 m² on the roof of the Natura Learning Center. SUNEW OPV SLIM IS developed from organic material and offers innovative benefits such as lightness, semi-transparence and flexibility. Such features make its application simpler and more adaptable to different types of surfaces than previous solar generation technologies. A facility located in La Rochelle, France, is currently leading the ranking of the largest installation of OPV in the world, with 500 m².
“SUNEW has stepped up its efforts to serve large commercial facilities, reaffirming our vision to transform the segment with solutions that can be integrated into our daily lives, our cities and our buildings. OPV represents an energy solution in a more humanized context. We are very excited to have Natura as a client, especially for what the company represents in terms of social responsibility, innovation and concern for the environment.”, says Tiago Alves, CEO of Sunew.
This project allows Natura to combine the world’s cleanest solar technology with design, innovation and maximum sustainability.
The positive impact on the environment is even greater considering SUNEW’s partnership with SOS Mata Atlântica, a non-profit foundation, which provides planting of one tree for each square meter of OPV produced. In this sense, 2020 native plants will be planted and protected by the Forests of the Future project.
Organic Photovoltaic Films, also known as OPV, are third generation solar cells. Capable of turning sunlight into electrical energy, these panels are lightweight, flexible, semi-transparent and have the smallest carbon footprint when compared to other photovoltaic generation technologies.
