Sunew applies next generation solar energy at Petrobras headquarters in Salvador30/01/2019

Sunew is incorporating third generation solar energy at the Petrobras facility which is already built on sustainable and innovative purposes.

Belo Horizonte (30.01.2019) – Sunew will design, manufacture and install one of the largest Organic Photovoltaic Film (OPV) façades in the world at a Petrobras building, the Brazilian oil giant and one of the world’s largest energy producers and consumers.

Part of the OPV will be placed at the highest floors of the building.

Petrobras headquarters in Salvador has been built based on the sustainability criteria of the Green Building and the Procel Edifica certifications which aims to optimize human and environmental resources. Its new façade with OPV, in addition to providing high-level of thermal insulation, will make the building even more sustainable by receiving Sunew’s technology of next generation solar energy, resulting also in considerable energy savings.

The photovoltaic film, named SUNEW OPV SLIM, represents the third generation of solar panels, and has unique characteristics such as lightness, flexibility and semi-transparency. These unique characteristics make Sunew’s OPV ideal for façades, skylights and other dynamic applications that seek to align energy generation to architecture-friendly solutions, sustainability and innovation.

Another part of the application of OPV will be at the skylight located at the entrance of the building.

“We can easily see a very positive environmental impact when we have major institutions such as Petrobras working to reduce their CO2 emissions and worried about the effects of climate change. Petrobras is increasingly investing in sustainable solutions and we are proud to contribute through our OPV technology. This is a big step for us to keep pursuing our mission to revolutionize the solar industry in Brazil and in the world,” said Tiago Alves, CEO of Sunew.

About OPV

Organic Photovoltaic Films, also known as OPV, are third generation solar cells. Capable of turning sunlight into electrical energy, these panels are lightweight, flexible, semi-transparent and have the smallest carbon footprint when compared to other photovoltaic generation technologies.

SUNEW

Sunew was born with the goal of revolutionizing the solar industry in Brazil and in the world with the greenest technology for generating solar energy. The company has state-of-the-art facilities and a global potential, with its headquarters in Brazil and the United States.

SUNEW FOR A BETTER FUTURE

Committed to building a better future for the next generations, Sunew has joined the NGO SOS Mata Atlântica. Sunew will promote the planting of a new tree for each square meter of OPV produced. The native trees will be cultivated and protected through the Forests of the Future program, which implement forest restoration programs in Atlantic Forest areas.
